Aotea Security is proud to support our employees who chose to volunteer their time to keep New Zealand's communities safe.
Aotea Security is proud to support our employees who volunteer their time towards their local Fire and Emergency support crews. Dan Roberts, a Project Manager for Aotea Security Wellington, has been a Fire and Emergency volunteer since November 2020 at the Wellington North Volunteer Fire Bridge - Station 92. Dan's role at this station as a Fire Fighter involves the weekly covering off various types of firefighter training, running out hoses and setting up portable pumps and portable water dams.
Not only does Dan volunteer for Fire & Emergency, but he has also been volunteering for the Wellington Emergency Response Team NZRT8 since February 2015. As a Squad Leader, Dan is involved in weekly emergency training, covering off various facts of search and rescue, casualty welfare, storm and flood response and community liaison.
When asked why he volunteers for Fire and Emergency and the Wellington Emergency Response Team, Dan said:
"I love being part of a group who have the same desire as me, always wanting to help others and constantly upskilling. Some of these skills I've learnt can be used in my daily life. I'm lucky to have a great family and employer who let me do this."
Fire and Emergency NZ states that many New Zealand communities don’t realise nearly 12,000 people volunteer for Fire and Emergency services. In an effort to raise awareness around this fact, they have launched a campaign featuring annual advertising and a new logo mark that businesses that employ a Fire and Emergency volunteer can display. This logo highlights the collaboration between the volunteers, their employers and Fire and Emergency services.
At Aotea Security, we will continue to support our employees like Dan Roberts, who volunteer their time to local Fire and Emergency services, as these volunteers keep local communities safe.
