The Tropical 7's International Youth Rugby Tournament brings teams from around the globe together for the ultimate rugby experience in Tampa, Florida, USA.
The Porirua Misfits saw massive success in the Tropical 7's tournament held in Tampa, Florida, over Easter weekend, 7/8th of April. The Misfits remained undefeated throughout the entire tournament, scoring 241 points while only conceding 12. Aotea Security is the major sponsor for this team and is incredibly proud of their achievements.
The Misfits started their weekend off strong, winning all three of their games while playing in an exhausting 33°C heat:
- Misfits 64 Vs West BLUE USA 0
- Misfits 27 vs Rugby South Panther Acadamy USA 0
- Misfits 37 vs Upright Rugby Rogues Canada 0
After a fantastic effort on day one, the boys were determined to continue this momentum into day two. They started their morning with another great game, winning 51-0 against the Tampa Bay Stingrays USA, sending them to the semi-final.
The Misfits would face the West RED USA team in the semi-final and come out on top with a fantastic score of 50-0.
During the final, the Misfits would finish the day with a hard battle against the Rugby South Panther Acadamy USA. Although this team would be the only one to score against the Misfits, it wasn't enough to stop them from emerging victors, winning the match 14-12.
Throughout the weekend of games, the Misfits were cheered on by teams from all over the world.
