Hilton Haulage Case Study

Inner Range, Salto, Milestone, HikVision and Aotea Security partner to deliver integrated on and offline locking, access control, intruder and CCTV solutions scaled to the needs of growing nationwide transport operator.

The situation

Hilton Haulage, a Timaru based transport and logistics services provider, were seeking on and offline locking solutions to expand their secure transportation services.

Driven by geographical expansion of additional satellite support centres, coupled with the need to centrally manage and control their access, intruder detection, video surveillance, HR, and building management systems, led them to seek a suitable partner and business information management platform.

Hilton Haulage required an experienced partner that offered a holistic and sustainable approach to protective security, one that could constantly adapt and develop to meet the ever-evolving needs of them and their clients, whilst improving financial and operational efficiencies.

The Aotea Security solution

The combination of experience, widespread geographical coverage and progressive thinking, along with local manufacturer support for the Inner Range Integriti system, were the core reasons Hilton Haulage decided to partner with Aotea Security.  Delivering high-level integrations with other Hilton Haulage business systems, has resulted in greater transparency of customer freight movements, a consolidated operational dashboard for system administrators, improving incident management times, on-boarding of staff and contractors, whilst reducing operational costs.

Local support by Inner Range Certified Factory trainers, to work with Aotea Security and Hilton Haulage, was considered a significant advantage as it enabled designated Hilton Haulage staff to be trained to basic certified technician levels.  Understanding the Integriti system at this level has meant Hilton Haulage staff can respond immediately and confidently to security events across their sites.

Hilton Haulage uses Inner Range’s Integriti enterprise building management software, Integriti Pro, to manage access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset tracking, HVAC, and lighting control.  Whilst there are seven Integriti controlled locations across Canterbury, supporting both on and offline systems, they are all centrally managed from their Timaru administration and management center, supporting business operations whilst delivering against their health and safety promise to staff and customers.

Partnering with Aotea Security provided Hilton Haulage with:

  • A market leader who delivers value through experience, expertise, innovation, diversity, scale, resource and genuine nationwide coverage, all based on a genuine partnership approach which harnesses the values of hands on management and 100% accountability
  • A comprehensive understanding of their business operational and strategic needs, supported by local Inner Range, Milestone, Hikvision and Salto factory certified technicians
  • Ability to retain access control and intruder detection assets through migration into the new platform, minimising disruption to operations and reducing total cost of systems ownership
  • Centralised management of access control and intrusion detection across multiple locations
  • Integration with on and off-line wireless Salto locking products, to deploy access control and provide secure audits of deliveries swiftly and cost effectively
  • Video management system integration (VMS), to support Health & Safety policy, logistics and biosecurity compliance
  • Immediate access to Inner Range Factory Certified trainers and support, Inner Range software and hardware including all of business technology solutions from Milestone, Hikvision, Assa Abloy, Salto, Paradox and HID for immediate deployment when expansion is required, mitigating risks and liabilities of operational down-time

The Hilton Haulage experience

Historically, Hilton Haulage’s security and surveillance system was a site-by-site approach.  Each site had different systems, different monitoring, and permissions for access had to be managed uniquely at each site, in some cases by the branch manager.  This approach added a considerable load to staffing, spread across many people.

With the company growing rapidly, even greater emphasis on branch performance, and product safety in our stores critical, we needed a change, to free up operational staff members to focus on their core business.

Partnering up with Aotea Security, we have a company-wide system that can be managed centrally from our head office or wherever our support staff are. We are ready for whatever comes next.
