New automatic bollards installed at the University of Otago are a great time saver for access onto campus
The Dunedin Branch of Aotea Security has recently installed new automatic bollards at the University of Otago.
The old manual bollards allowed for good pedestrian flow however they caused delays as they held up vehicles whilst they waited for campus security to come lower them. On top of this, they are located at a busy access point to the campus which meant the need for them to be lowered and raised was frequent.
Aotea Security proposed Bully Boy bollards as a solution - the bollards are made in New Zealand and were able to be integrated in to the university's existing Gallagher access control system along with an intercom to the university's security control room.
With the new solution, authorised card holders can present their card at a reader to be granted access. Alternatively access can be requested via an intercom as well. All of this has been achieved whilst still allowing a non-obtrusive and aesthetically open passage for pedestrians.
